Self-Representation: Photoshopping and Airbrushing

In the past, photoshopping and airbrushing were reserved for fashion models and celebrities on magazine covers. Today, technology has democratized this process. Everyone can do it. New apps such as Facetune allow us to airbrush our own smartphone photos.  See this article, “Facebook is conquering Instagram, but does it take airbrushing too far?” What are the implications of this democratization of self-representation — or, more to the point, self-misrepresentation?
